Bifurcation

For no good reason at all, beyond that I am impetuous and find my blogging here increasingly distracted by bits and pieces, I have created a new blog just for those bits and pieces over here.

My hope is that it will be the Modernist component to my overall intellectual project.

I am a devoted reader of the Transcontinental, and I enjoy your short, anecdotal pieces as much as your longer philosophical attempts to grasp some of the perplexities of our culture and to straighten out some of our misconceptions – whether political, or simply about the (non)existence of hardware stores in a certain area nearby. I hope you do not abandon your old blog. Blogging is a fragmentary business as is, but you don't want to be like a certain author we both admire, who started so much but never finished most of it. Your posts are refreshing and insightful. Keep up the spirit and best of luck with the new blog!

That's very nice of you to say! The new blog is really more of an experiment - I don't think it will be anything like this one.

And this one is staying put! I have had multiple blogs before, and that didn't work very well. So we shall see.

Anyway, thanks for commenting, devoted anonymous reader.
